Lessons from the Field. Caregivers supporting marginalized people receiving social service support from street outreach workers

Objective In this Lesson from the Field, we examine changes in burden experienced by caregivers of persons who experience homelessness associated with lack employment, employability or education, and mental health challenges when care recipient receives support an outreach professional known as a social street worker (herein identified worker). addition, focus on caregivers' perception change quality their relationship person for whom they whether receive worker. Background Netherlands, due to transformation toward participation society, living compromised circumstances must increasingly rely shelter instead relying services, such community teams. Methods Workers provided Dutch organization covering northwest Netherlands gained consent clients contact clients' caregivers. Caregivers were invited participate research completed consent. A total 111 receiving workers surveys. Results had more worried less about care. No found regarding tension between cared. Most (73%) perceived positive care, 52% received Conclusion carers did not perceive burden, but cared themselves.
